Meet The Chef’s From This Years North Country Chef’s Challenge

Join Us, Thursday Sept. 19 for the 2nd annual #NorthCountryChefsChallenge at Margarita Grill. Sample soups & salads from some of the Valley’s best chef’s. Tickets are $25 to sample and cast your vote for the “People’s Choice Award.” This year we will be featuring Chef’s from Margarita Grill, Red Parka Steakhouse & Pub & The White Mountain Cider Company & Moat Mountain Smokehouse & Brewing Company. Lisa Raymond – Margarita Grill

Lisa is the Head Chef at Margarita Grill. She has been instrumental in the movement of farm to table and is the reason that they won the 2012 editors pick for Best Ribs in NH Magazine. Her passion for quality products & commitment to local sourcing has helped her rise to the top of her profession.  She loves Kayaking, cooking, reading & her Loyal dog Molly.







Margarita_P3Kevin Carpenter – Margarita Grill

Kevin wears many hats at the Grill, He manages the Kitchen, Bartends & basically does what ever it takes. His passion for the restaurant business is evident by his continued dedication through out the school year , when he wears yet another hat as a Biology  Teacher &  Science Department head at Berlin High School. His passion for cooking with local foods & quality products is equal to his dedication to his son Kherry & Daughter Vivian. When the grill serves PT Farms Brisket, you can be sure it was under Kevin’s guidance.






Margarita_P1Tim Pomerleau – The White Mountain Cider Company

The White Mountain Cider Company is a fresh bakery/deli, cider mill, and an award winning casual fine dining restaurant & bar that strives to use seasonal and local ingredients in our creative contemporary cuisine.  The original 1890’s farmhouse where the restaurant is located features an open fireplace, outdoor patio and spacious loft seating.  Our cider mill presses fresh apple cider during fall and early winter months and free tours are given throughout the day.  The Bakery/Deli serves up fresh baked goods, delicious sandwiches made to order, and our famous apple cider donuts!  Chef/Owner Teresa Stearns has made the White Mountain Cider Company a place for friends and families to enjoy a memorable dining experience. 

Scott RossMoat Mountain Smokehouse & Brewing Company

Executive Chef Scott Ross has been with Moat Mountain since 2003, and in 2007 was named Executive Chef, following founding Chef Dan Raynard. A native of the Mt Washington Valley and a Kennett High grad, Scott obtained his Culinary Science degree from Atlantic Culinary Academy as well as a Diplome D’Art Culinaire from Le Cordon Bleu. Scott’s previous experience includes the Brass Heart Inn in Chocorua, NH, where following an internship was named Head Chef for two years prior to joining the Moat.

Scott not only oversees the day-to-day operation of a very talented kitchen staff but constantly raises the bar with creative cuisine with both the daily specials and sell-out Beer dinners. Chef Scott currently serves as Assistant Vice for the White Mountain Chapter or American Culinary Federation and is working on his advance ACF certifications.

Margarita Grill and Moat Mountain Brewing Company have just what you are looking for! As a S.O.H.L. Partner Event, our taps here at Margarita Grill are being taken over by the Moat Mountain Brewing Company. Join us at Margarita Grill on Tuesday, December 18th from 4pm – close for great local beer, tasty local food and fun giveaways.

Margarita Grill strives to make sustainable choices, use fresh ingredients and offer a unique menu. From this spun S.O.H.L. Sundays – standing for Sustainable, Organic, Handcrafted and Local. S.O.H.L. Sundays are events to showcase New Hampshire’s wealth of talent, an evening to get back to our roots, and enrich our souls. S.O.H.L Partner Events are an extension of S.O.H.L Sundays where Margarita Grill features a great, local company and we cater our menu and restaurant to the partner’s product.

The first partner event is with a popular local brewery we are sure you are familiar with, Moat Mountain Brewing Company. Not only will our taps be taken over by six Moat beers but also there will be signature dishes paired with each beer or a recipe using one of the locally crafted Moat Brews.

handcrafted and local artisan vendors and one-of-a-kind items great for everyone on your list. Not only will you be supporting local small businesses but you will also be donating to the Angels and Elves Fund all while moving towards sustainable living. Margarita Grill and participating vendors want to make sure everyone has a happy holiday which means 10% of all proceeds from Holiday SOHL will go towards the Angels and Elves Fund.

This month there will be over 15 artisans participating in the event where you can browse original photographs, handcrafted pottery, knitted outerwear, natural soaps and taste a variety of wine and beer. Moat Mountain Brewery will be doing a beer tasting from 4-6pm and the Sap House Meadery will be with us all evening sampling their meade.  Get to know your local artisans this holiday season and join us for a fun evening of food, beverages and shopping!
